Rosh Hashanah 'Grand-Pivot' Activities Update

Status of Reut's Work in light of the Coronavirus Pandemic

Towards Rosh HaShanah and the high holidays, it is time to reflect on Reut’s ‘Grand Pivot,’ an effort to collectively respond to the disruptions to the Jewish People which have been created by the COVID-19 crisis. Notably, Corona challenges in many ways the ideal of Jewish peoplehood and changes the map of threats of the Jewish People. Based on this understanding we are leading two separate efforts that occasionally overlap that address these two aspects.

Reut launched in March 2020 the ‘grand pivot’ campaign  -striving to mobilize a collective learning process with the goal of containing setbacks and seizing opportunities while strengthening relations between Israel and world Jewry.  We are thankful primarily for the Rodan Family Foundation for its ongoing support that allowed Reut to execute its own pivot.

In addition, a grant from the Genesis Prize - as part of their “Speak Out for Israel” global initiative – allowed us to kickstart a project that focuses on the grand pivot of the pro-Israel network against all sorts of anti-Semitism. The main arena of this work is the challenge to the Jewish community from rise of identity politics. Click for the full document to see the report on both efforts.
